Distraction, denial, or whatever you want to call Distraction, denial, or whatever you want to call it. Some days you just want to dive into those things you enjoy and leave the world behind.

Over the past couple of weeks I have had a few peo Over the past couple of weeks I have had a few people ask me if I had a copy of my EPP daffodil pattern for sale anywhere.
The good news is that I am working on it. I spent yesterday tweaking the design to make sure it prints properly. I also got some Sun Prints out to play to make sure it sews just as well in quilting cottons as it does in Liberty. I’m happy to say it does and today I have another pretty daffodil in full bloom. There are a few more small tweaks to make and I plan to sew one last test today or tomorrow to make sure I am happy with everything. All going well I should have a pattern for you all at the start of next week.

Those of you who have followed me for a long time Those of you who have followed me for a long time will remember that when I first started EPP I started by designing a whole series of Liberty butterflies. Fast forward many years and those butterflies have still never made it onto a quilt, but only because I could never find a background fabric I was
really happy with.
All that changed a few weeks ago when @dittanym posted a photo of a scrap of Liberty’s David Joe that she intended to use. I knew there an then I had finally seen the fabric that would make the perfect backing because it reminded me so much of my favourite photograph of the butterflies from way back in 2015 when I captured them sitting on our primrose covered lawn. One (online) shopping trip to Japan later and the fabric was ordered. Today it arrived and I cannot tell you how excited I
was to open that package.
I have found my dream background! I have pressed it and scattered the butterflies all over it and it is perfection. I cannot wait to finally progress this quilt top, so no guesses as to what my sewing plans
for March will be!
I‘m going to join in the slowstitchalong being hosted by Emma @vintagesewingbox Zoe @zoemayson and Leela @missleela_handmade this month to keep myself
on track. I won’t get this quilt anywhere close to finished but I hope to get as many of the butterflies as I can appliquéd in place by the end of the month!

Today‘s prompt for the #igquiltfest is Collabora Today‘s prompt for the #igquiltfest is Collaborations. I have only ever collaborated one one quilt which is this, Peak‘s Sunset. It was created for the 2018 Quiltcon charity quilt challenge by the Peaks Posse, a group of the lovely ladies I frequently have the pleasure of attending the Patchwork in the Peaks retreat with.

The prompt for #igquiltfest2021day2 is Sewing Roo The prompt for #igquiltfest2021day2 is Sewing Room Snacks and I don’t actually have any.
I always have glasses of water and will bring up the odd cup of tea or coffee if I am sitting and hand sewing, but these days I try to avoid snacking completely, and if I am having something I follow the same rules I have set out for the kids - food is only for the kitchen or dining room.

It is day 1 of the #igquiltfest2021 hosted by @amy It is day 1 of the #igquiltfest2021 hosted by @amyscreativeside and today’s prompt is Introductions.

So I’ll start with a big hello to you all, especially those who may be visiting for the first time.

I’m Paula, long time crafter, short time quilter. I’ve always sewn but decided to teach myself to quilt when my oldest son was 3 and I’ve been quilting ever since. Over those 9 or so years I’ve figured out that I am happiest when I design my own pieces so I get to work on them from idea through to finish.

These days I mostly EPP, again mostly working on my own designs. As a busy mum of two whose husband is currently working abroad for a few years I especially enjoy the slow pace of EPP that always gives me a chance to relax and unwind.

I look forward to sharing more about myself and my makes with you over the month ahead and look forward to reading everyone else’s stories as well.

Somewhere in the midst of all the ski holidays fun Somewhere in the midst of all the ski holidays fun I managed to finish my EPP project pouch for the #eppnecessitiessal hosted by Irina @nordiccrafter and Larisa @stitchingnotes as part of the #sipteaandepp get togethers for the month of February.
I made two EPP panels as covers for the pouch, one featuring an #eppdaffodil. The pouch is designed so that I can open it out to give me two hexagonal work mats. I also made a #stardomepincushion and a #twistandfoldthread catcher to live in the pouch.
In time I plan to also make a matching needle book and maybe even an insert panel to hold spools of threads and other project items.
