When the boys came home from the national scout ja When the boys came home from the national scout jamboree we had planned to head straight to the mountains for the last week of holidays so I just had time to get their laundry done, but everything else went into a basket to sort through once we came home.

This morning I finally a got a chance to start sorting through that basket and I realised I had never shared these speedy last minute summer makes.

When we were packing for the jamboree they asked for larger first aid kits, as their old ones were bursting at the seams, and some smaller toilet bags to save on space. Half an hour later and I’d quickly transformed some oilcloth and zips into the requested bags. There was also a last minute card case using one of my favourite pouch patterns.

These pouches may all have been made in a rush but the easily survived their two weeks of jamboree and will undoubtedly see plenty more travels in the months and years ahead.

It’s no secret that I enjoy a gin and tonic, so It’s no secret that I enjoy a gin and tonic, so you can imagine how pleased I was to discover that, when repurposing an empty gin bottle today, the label was in fact fabric.
I’ll be keeping this one as it will make a fun addition to a pouch at some stage.

Last weekend the boys came home after two amazing Last weekend the boys came home after two amazing weeks at scout camp and we headed to the mountains a for a week of pool time fun. The was a little sewing, a lot of game playing, swimming, reading, diving and ice cream. There was also one circus visit and a spectacular super moon (not on the same night). We had a wonderful time with family and friends. Although the new school year starts tomorrow and we are sad the summer fun is all over, we have only six weeks to go till the autumn holidays and hopefully lots more memory making adventures.

We have yet another heatwave here at the moment bu We have yet another heatwave here at the moment but it is due to break this evening so I’m out in the garden alternating between sewing, swimming while closely watching the clouds and the weather radar for incoming storms.
Last time around I draped some sheets over my chilli, tomato, kale and tomato plants and they survived the hail and torrential rain without any damage.
So now the ladder is ready, the sheets are stacked indoors and I’m ready for action at the first sign of storms 🤣

What an amazing day. I stitched my way through hou What an amazing day. I stitched my way through hours of travelling through some stunning Swiss landscapes as we got to visit the boys at the BuLa (the national scout camp) today.
And what an amazing experience it was. Over 30,000 scouts all together in a tent city that spreads out over a distance 3.5km. I really was just blown away by the sheer scale and magnificence of the Mova. It was definitely a day to remember for me, and if by any chance either of my two are still involved in scouting in 14 years time I‘ll definitely be signing up to go visit the next BuLa!

The boys are away at the national scout camp and w The boys are away at the national scout camp and while my mornings are all about work I’m taking any opportunity I can to make the afternoons my own, like mini holidays for me 😁.
Today I pulled out my sewing in between some pool time to cool down. I’ve been slowly working away on my #eppsummerlanterns project over the past few weeks and this afternoon was spent cutting and basting the yellow lanterns.
