Threadbias are holding another design contest and this time around they have teamed up with Clothworks and entrants are being asked to design a baby quilt. The featured fabric for this design contest is the beautiful cute Critter Patch Organic collection by designer Alyssa Thomas of Penguin and Fish.

threadbiascrittercontestIf you aren’t familiar with Threadbias then it is well worth checking out. It is an online sewing community that is free to join and it also features an online design tool that lets you design your own quilt. Using this design tool and the featured fabrics I have designed “Critter Picnic” to enter in the contest:ThreadbiasCritter

I decided to go with a very simple design for this quilt. The design reminds me of scattered picnic blankets and I think that the simple blocks will appeal greatly to babies and young children. I also love how they showcase the fabrics used and provide an ideal platform for utilising a multitude of quilting designs, a great oppertunity to create multiple textures and points of interest for any inquisitive little person. Add some scrappy binding and I think this would be a really fun baby quilt.

There is still plenty of time to enter the competition so why not head over to Threadbias and create your own design today.

  1. Oh my goodness! The Threadbias design tool is so addictive. I was supposed to get a bunch of stuff done tonight, but I got pulled into designing a Critter Patch entry instead. Once I started I was afraid to stop for fear of losing the design in my head.
