For many the Christmas decorations have already been hung, the tree decorated and their houses will be full of festive cheer. Not in my house. We never decorate before the 8th of December, in fact it is often quite a bit later before the tree is bought and the boxes of bling make their way up from the basement. but while I may not be decorating the house just yet I have been doing a little tree decorating in fabric form.

CMQfirstMy Christmas sewing has finally begun with a mini quilt wall hanging, the first of a few I intend to make over the next week or so. The design is my own, and the first trial version is almost finished. The wool appliquéd ornaments still need a little stitching and the binding has to be added, but now that I know the pattern works I have started on the next couple of trees and hopefully will be able to sit down by the weekend to bind a few mini quilts rather than just the one.

CMQsecondcardThe smaller tree is destined to become a Christmas card. After my success first attempt at making fabric ATCs I am going to try and make at least a couple of fabric Christmas cards this year.

Linking up with Lee’s Work in Progress Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced. Hope to see you there.

  1. Our youngest son’s birthday is on the 8th December so he and his Dad go out that day every year to buy the tree. No decorations are put up in our house until the birthday is past !

Love your idea for fabric cards, another one to add to the list of things that would be lovely to do if I ever have time 🙂
