Before Christmas I showed you the cross stitch decorated tops that I had previously made for my boys for Christmas in years gone by. At the time I had just started in on this years tops, but I really wasn’t sure that I would get them finished in time. Thankfully I managed to get plenty of sewing done while visiting family here the day before our departure to Ireland, and thanks to two well behaved little boys I even got a nice bit of sewing done on the flight to Ireland. And thankfully I finally did get the two tops finished in time.

CT2013For my youngest I stitched a Santa. The design for this came from Issue 182 of Cross Stitch Crazy (november 2013).

CTsanta13For my eldest a sliding penguin. This design was originally part of a larger one from a Bow Ties cross stitch kit called “Playful Penguins” by Michael A. LeClair. I stitched the bow itself for my sister a few years ago and as it was a design I always loved and decided that as I had plenty of thread left over I would use some of it and part of the pattern here.

CTpenguin13In contrast with previous years I opted not to use red tops this year and am more then pleased with the results. These will add a nice pop of colour to the quilt I intend to make some time in the future from all of the Christmas tops.
